Museum aan het Vrijthof

Museum Spanish Government is located on the place Vrijthof. The building of the museum is the 16th century Spanish Government house, originally built as a chapter house. The Renaissance arcade in the courtyard had carved medallions with portraits of the emperor Charles V, his wife Isabella of Portugal and the young Philips II. The museum contains period rooms with mainly 18th century furnishing. Two of the rooms have been decorated in the mid-18th century Regency style of Liège-Maastricht.
