The kazematten are an extensive network of underground tunnels and mine shafts, which were dug out between 1575 and 1825. An exhibition area has been set up in the kazematten focusing on two different periods during which they served as a place of refuge: during World War II and as a nuclear fallout shelter. Various photographs and installations create an ambience which takes the visitor back to those fearful and oppressive times, but which at times also bring a smile to visitors’ faces and make them think.
With a minimum of 14 people. Not suitable for people in wheelchairs or people who have difficulty walking; it is also possible to book a guided tour of just the Kazematten.
