TEFAF 2010: International Prestige

From 12 until 21 March 2010 the worlds most prominent art fair TEFAF takes place in Maastricht. Since a many years the fair has been high on the visting agenda of every renouned art dealer and art lover. At the fair high value works of art are sold and showed dating from the present day, all the way back to Antiquity. Art from every world culture is on display, and - of course- on sale. New at the 2010 edition is the section TEFAF on paper.

New section: TEFAF on Paper

The new TEFAF on Paper section at TEFAF Maastricht, the world’s most influential art and antiques fair, has proved a huge attraction to international specialists in Old Master and modern drawings, limited edition prints, photography, antiquarian books and manuscripts, watercolours and Japanese prints. Eighteen of the nineteen dealers exhibiting at TEFAF on Paper will be new to the Fair.

TEFAF on Paper: Japanese Art

One of the highlights of the Japanese works of art on show at TEFAF on Paper will be an extremely rare original 1920 Hashiguchi Goyō print on the stand of Galerie Tanakaya from Paris. The blocks for the prints that he produced were destroyed in the great Kanto earthquake in Japan in 1923 as were many of the prints themselves. Goyō died in 1921 and today original works by him are among the mostly highly prized of all shin hanga prints. This example is in very good condition.
