Crossroads of cultures and landscapes
The landscape around Maastricht is diverse, challenging and very beautiful. Here where Dutch Limburg, Flanders and French-speaking Wallonia meet, the landscape is exceptionally varied:
you will find forests, wide vistas, challenging slopes, long stretches of heather along with the unregulated bed of the river Meuse.

Forgotten paradises
Hidden from motorized transport, housing estates and buildings, you can ride for hours along an extensive network of canals and stretches of disused railway tracks. The landscape is dotted with the remains of 19th century industrialisation. The mining of coal, marlstone, gravel and sand has left its marks in the landscape. Sand-, gravel- and marlstonequarries, abandoned factory sites and coal waste dumps are largely left wild and neglected; paradise to the off-road rider.
